By or actually from Birkelund camping goes a beautiful cycling-route over Reineskarvet.
A map with the route is free available in the kiosk of the camping site.
This route has all aspects for the real hobby-cyclist: steep climbing, beautiful lonely unhardened but fine little roads through the wonderful Norwegian landscape.
Start at Birkelund camping and bike to Hol, 1,5 km east from the centre you start a very steep, kilometres long climb to Holsåsen.
Here you a treated with a magnificent view over Hol and Holsfjorden.
The route is marked as “Gamle Skarverittet” and is 65 km long. The road passes Sletto, where the poet Olav Sletto comes from.
At Holsåsen you can take the road to Nedremyrstølen, a summer mountainfarm. Here you can drink or eat something.
From here the road goes round Varaldsetvatnet where the road descends to Nordheim in Vats.
In Nordheim you go left to Rødungstølen, Tvist, Kleppestølen, Bry, Hovet back to Birkelund camping.
The highest point is 1100 metres above sea level and the raod leads you through a beautiful mountain nature. At Fagerdalen stølen you can also take a rest and drink and eat something.
